Let's say you want to investing in Bollywood for what is once was, then some movies are forever. Further let's go back in time and imagine Om Puri(1950-2017) going into the filmset as a newcomer in Seepeeyan(1984) to become the legend he left. Just that sentence says legacy. 

The story: Wealthy Jeetu(played by Kanwaljeet Singh) impregnates Kalyani(played by Debashree Roy), refuses marriage. Heartbroken, she tries suicide, saved by lower-caste Gokul(played by Om Puri) who marries her. Jeetu wants Kalyani back, but she stays with honorable Gokul.

A time when Bollywood was more than just films for generations that had to find themself expressing the blossom of India's independence growing to a real economy. Filmmakers like Akash Jain was the backbone of that era during the 80s and 90s where companionship moved India forward with the medium of cinema.

Seepeeyan had its first cinema release back in 1984. The movie did a lesser successful round on the big-screen, but did the important part to recover financially. Later the film has been screened on Dhordarshan for a while generating some more income and also some revenues from Youtube, but not more profits than the distributors costs which didn't turnout like it was promised to Akash Jain. Without dropping names, this is Bollywood and business can therefore be traumatising. Good or for bad, we will see, all we can do is share the Truth that Seepeeyan is more interesting for the audiences today than it was back then in the 80s.

Old movies in a new world have a future as the form of the film medium is changing to become a financial commodity for the corporate books. Some buy crypto, some have silver, but who will have Seepiyan is to be defined by us together. If art means something than this film may become the one representing that same movement✌🏽
