When a streetwise young man from the Lagos slums is shockingly named in the will of a billionaire CEO, he’s pulled into a high-stakes inheritance war, where family secrets, corporate corruption, and a violent drug syndicate threaten everything he’s ever known.
We are raising funds to complete the development phase of The Fifth Heir. This film tells the story of a forgotten heir from the slums who uncovers a legacy built on silence, wealth, and systemic abuse and must decide whether to inherit or burn it all down. As a Nigerian filmmaker deeply invested in telling socially conscious stories, I believe in the urgency of narratives that challenge power, centre silenced voices, and bridge the gap between class, gender, and justice. With the funds, we’ll complete the script, produce a polished visual pitch deck, mood reel, and casting materials to secure international co-production partners and pre-sale interest. I’m Gbolahan Gafar, a writer and producer whose work spans narrative film, documentary, and web series, with a focus on stories that reflect the lived realities of contemporary Africans. The grant funds will ensure the project is creatively, structurally and strategically prepared for production and market entry
Grant funding will directly support the development phase of The Fifth Heir, ensuring the project is creatively, structurally, and strategically prepared for production and market entry. This grant will empower us to shape The Fifth Heir into a bold, emotionally resonant, and globally relevant African story ready for international attention.
